Counseling FAQs

What is counseling?

Counseling is a collaborative session that is between the client and the therapist. In this session, the therapist will take the time to listen to the client and help make goals with them to help find solutions to difficult circumstances in the client’s life. The counselor will seek ways to help improve the client’s communication skills, self-esteem, as well as help them deal with negative emotions.

How can counseling help me?

Therapy is a process of personal growth and can help you in many different ways. It can help with any emotional, mental or relationship issues that may arise. In your sessions, you will learn new communication skills, how to cope with difficult emotions, as well as be able to be listened to without judgment by your therapist.

Is confidentiality guaranteed?

Everything that you speak to your therapist about will be kept confidential. All of the therapists at All About You Therapy Services have taken an oath to protect your privacy during your sessions. However, there are some exceptions to the confidentiality rule. By law, the therapist will be required to report instances of:

  • Threats to hurt oneself
  • Threats to harm others
  • Suspected child or elder abuse–if the client is either the victim or the perpetrator

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, we do accept insurance! At All About You Therapy Services, we accept many different kinds of insurance for your therapy. We accept Blue Cross- Blue Shield (Regence), Cigna, Aetna, Educator’s Mutual Insurance (EMI), Select Health, Select health Medicaid (Adults Only), and United Healthcare.

What kinds of therapy do you offer?

We strive to offer therapy for many different circumstances. We have therapists who specialize in women’s counseling, teen counseling, children’s counseling, marriage and relationship counseling, and massage therapy. We help many people who deal with the distressing symptoms of: anxiety, depression, PTSD, LGBTQ, bi-polar disorder, low self-esteem, abuse, relation or marital problems, and many other distressing challenges of life.

What kinds of sessions do you offer?

Our office offers both one on one sessions, where you can go and speak to the counselor alone, or we offer group sessions to help you work through your emotions and to get the support that you need. If you are unable to make it to the office, we also offer online therapy sessions.

What will the first session be like?

Many people feel nervous for their first session of therapy. However, you do not need to worry! The first session will be all about the client sharing their story, as well as building trust with their therapist. The relationship that is formed in the first session of therapy will be the foundation of working together. Goals can be discussed as well as ways that you can accomplish those goals.

How long is each session?

Therapy sessions typically last 55-60 minutes for an individual session. If you are going to a group session, then the sessions will run longer than that. However the duration and frequency of each therapy session will depend on the needs of the client, and what the therapist sees fit to help the client.
