What is Mental Health Counseling?

Mental health counseling provides a safe, supportive space to explore emotional challenges, reduce stress, and improve well-being. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, or life changes, a licensed counselor can help you gain clarity, build resilience, and feel more in control. Sessions involve a professional relationship between a trained counselor and a client, where the counselor provides guidance, support, and evidence-based interventions tailored to the client’s needs.

How Can Counseling Help Me?

Counseling can help you manage stress, anxiety, depression, and other emotional challenges. It gives you a safe space to talk, gain insight, and learn healthy coping skills. With the support of a trained therapist, you can improve your mental well-being and feel more balanced and in control of your life.

Is Confidentiality Guaranteed?

Yes. Your privacy is a top priority. What you share in counseling is kept confidential, with a few legal exceptions (such as risk of harm to yourself or others). Your therapist will explain these limits before you begin.

What will the first session be like?

Your first session is a chance to get to know your counselor and talk about what brings you to therapy. You’ll discuss your goals, background, and any concerns you have. It’s a relaxed, judgment-free space where you can ask questions and start building a trusting relationship. There’s no pressure—you set the pace.

How long will sessions be?

Therapy sessions typically last 55-60 minutes for an individual session. Group therapy sessions typically last 60 to 90 minutes, providing enough time for everyone to share, connect, and work on healing together.
